ἐκεῖνος, η, ο (ἐκεῖ, vgl. κεῖνος, τῆνος), der dort, jener, im Ggstz von οὗτος, etwas Entfernteres, Abwesendes bezeichnend, Hom. u. Folgde überall. Oft von den Gestorbenen, vgl. Schömann zu Isaeus p. 177. S. ἐκεῖ – Regelmäßig steht in Prosa der Artikel dabei; ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, an jenem Tage, Thuc. 1, 20; mit geringerem Nachdruck τὴν στρατιὰν ἐκείνην 1, 10; selten ἡμέρας ἐκείνης, 3, 59, u. wo es hinzeigend ist, νῆες ἐκεῖναι ἐπιπλέουσιν, da segeln Schiffe heran; ὡς νῠν Ἶρος ἐκεῖνος ἧσται, dort, Od. 18, 239. – Von bekannten Personen oder Sachen, wie ille, Soph. O. C. 87; Ar. Nub. 180. – Οὗτος ἐκεῖνος, eben jener, Soph. El. 1104; Eur.; οὗτος ἐκεῖνος τὸν σὺ ζητεῖς, das ist der, Her. 1, 32; vgl. Ar.
